Hot air balloon pilot flying high despite disability

Friday kicks off a busy weekend of events for Garden City. Part of the excitement is the 7th Annual Hot Air Balloon Festival. And one of the pilots who will be taking people into the sky has battled quite a bit of adversity to get where he is today.

Disability Language Style Guide

The NCDJ publishes a disability style guide in English and Spanish for journalists and professionals who report or write about disabilities.

Training sessions available

The NCDJ conducts training for journalists and other professionals who want to improve their coverage of disability. Sessions can be tailored to meet different needs, but basic training addresses issues related to language choices, framing of disability stories, selection of visuals, and interviewing people with disabilities.

Sessions can be conducted virtually or in person. Fees vary.
