Contest Rules 2023
Journalists working in digital, print, audio and broadcast media are eligible to enter both contests. Entries are accepted from outside the U.S., although the work submitted must be in English.

Entries for both contests must have been published or aired between July 1, 2022, and June 30, 2023. The deadline to enter is Aug. 1, 2023. There is no entry fee, and reporters may self-nominate.

Large Media Market
Radio—top 20 radio market size (according to Nielsen ratings); television—network or syndicated TV and Top 20 markets; print—150,000 circulation or greater (largest single day, including digital replica), wire services, magazines, weeklies, and online-only media with a primary focus on a regional or national audience

Small Media Market
Radio—below top 20 radio market size (according to Nielsen ratings); television—below Top 20 markets; print—150,999 circulation (largest single day, including digital replica), magazines, weeklies, and online-only media with a primary focus on a state, city, metro area or county

Gary Corcoran Student Prize for Excellence in Reporting on Disability

The contest is open to anyone who is enrolled in a U.S. or international college or university in 2022/23, while studying for an academic degree. International students may also enter.

The entrant must have been enrolled as a student at the time of publication or broadcast. Work completed for internships or classes is acceptable if it meets the publication requirement.
