Special needs students face ‘aging out’ dilemma

When special needs students reach the age of 21, their education and therapy services as mandated by federal law cease. The process is called “aging out.” The Individual Disability Education Act guarantees free appropriate education, including therapies as needed, from ages 3 to 21.
