States Offered $15 Million To Spur Disability Employment

The U.S. Department of Labor said this week that they are putting up $15 million to be used by state workforce agencies to create “flexible and innovative strategies” to grow participation of people with disabilities in federally-funded job training programs. Read more.

Disability Language Style Guide

The NCDJ publishes a disability style guide in English and Spanish for journalists and professionals who report or write about disabilities.

Training sessions available

The NCDJ conducts training for journalists and other professionals who want to improve their coverage of disability. Sessions can be tailored to meet different needs, but basic training addresses issues related to language choices, framing of disability stories, selection of visuals, and interviewing people with disabilities.

Sessions can be conducted virtually or in person. Fees vary.
